Beautiful Panoramic and/or Open Air Busses!

My convention booked a private tour with this company and it was great! We had a beautiful bus that was all windows so it offered a beautiful panoramic view of the city and hill country. We had a couple stops, one of them at Covert Park for sunset. The driver planned it PERFECTLY so we were able to enjoy the gorgeous view of the lake and hills at sunset. Our guide was named Will and he made sure everyone had a wonderful experience! They also had an audio tour component where they offer disposable earbuds so every guest can hear the tour, loud and clear! Great for city traffic or the hearing impaired. All appropriate precautions were taken including social distancing, temperature checks, and sanitizing.

Sunday in Austin

Our guide went above and beyond for a party of two adults and FIVE young boys. She emphasized the stuff they enjoyed while taking time for the unanticipated potty breaks that go along with kids.

Highly recommended!!

Having Malina as our guide was my favorite aspect of the tour — she’s PHENOMENAL!!! This was my second tour with Malina; she knows the city so well that she’s able to share insights and “behind the scenes” details and history, which makes things extra interesting!

Overall great!

I had two hours and When I walked in to the Austin Visitor Center, I was suggested to take the 90 tour by AO Tours. It was an outstanding tour, fun, funny and informative. Our tour Bri, (edited) like the cheese... homonym to my stepdaughter, was all that, and very personal. Brie provided local insights and local eateries. Overall great!

Custom tour Austin and Hill Country

Our group of 10 loved traveling in the new glass top vehicle for our private tour. Mary and Bree incorporated our interests into a 4 hour tour of city and Hill Country that was a great combination of riding, walking, eating and photos. Bree was so knowledgeable, accommodating, and fun. Loved hearing her stories! Red and White wine tasting was our final stop - perfect ending for our memorable tour!

Short on time- perfect way to get an overview of Austin

I didn't have time for a long tour because I was in town for a wedding. Still, I wanted to see an overview of Austin and know where to visit in my limited time. AO Tours had multiple start times and the online scheduler was easy to use. I was able to decide at 10AM to take the 12:30 tour. This tour was ideal. It was a combination of a recorded narration and live commentary from our driver/guide. Joel was friendly and informative. Van was comfy. I highly recommend it.

I can say this trip was amazing

We did land and a boat tour, but this by far was the best. Didn't stop to take pictures but that's why we booked it was to take the tour and get the history behind everything and find places to visit on our own. Our tour guide which I sadly forget her name but it was Monday at 10am she was so informative and had amazing knowledge of everything we went by and saw. Thanks again for an amazing experience.

Austin Walking Tour - Great way to be introduced to the city

We did a walking tour that included some food sampling’s as well. It was a great way to be introduced to the city. The guide was very friendly, prompt, and was very knowledgeable about Austin and downtown. The owner was very accommodating as well and helped put a tour together for us during this time of Covid. Great communication and a great tour.

Wish every city had something like this.

This is a great way to see a lot of Austin in a short amount of time. Our driver was very informative and had a good grasp on what we "needed" to know without going overboard. Everything from the Capital building to Chris Kyle's monument in State Cemetery. We were very pleased and wish every city had something like this.

We loved this Austin tour.

My husband and myself had been to Austin before but didn't really know where to start. This weekend we planned a vacation there and decided to go on a tour to gain some insight on the good spots to see, things to do and good places to eat. We loved this tour. The guide was a ton of fun and he showed us everything great about Austin, he also gave a ton of information on spots and why for instance the Court House has an armadillo tail sticking out the back of the building. The next day we drove the tour route in our own vehicle and knew right were to stop for some fun and views.

Just what we wanted!

This is a great little tour. Perfect amount of time. My 24-year-old son and I had taken the tour before moving to Ausin 2 years ago, and I knew it was the best way to give my visiting friends a quick intro without the stress of fighting the traffic and being tour guide. We took the tour on a Thursday at 12:30. That gave us time to have breakfast and enjoy a walk around Lady Bird Lake before the heat kicked in. It was one of those hot days and it was so comfortable and relaxing in that Mercedes van. Each tour guide has their own style, and they give you the historical highlights spiced with some of their own favorite places and experiences. A heads up here: The tours run very efficiently and leave right on schedule. We almost missed it, but my tour guide gave me a personal call to see where we were. We parked in the visitor center garage on 5th Street. Very convenient. Do give yourself a minimum of 15 minutes after parking to browse the visitor center and use the conveniences before boarding the van! After the tour, at 2:30, we were able to walk to Stub's, one of the recommended, for a Texas BBQ lunch after the crowds! And we still had time to visit some of the other places that we saw on this tour. WORTH EVERY PENNY!

A must do Austin tour

Instead of driving around, getting lost and not knowing the history or importance of the places we'd find, we took the tour to really hear and see the different parts of Austin. Andrew pointed out the highlights of each area. We were really glad we did the tour.

A great Austin tour.

A really well done and informative 1.5 hour tour. The bus was very comfortable and the guide, Andrew, extremely knowledgeable and charming. He mixes his chatter with some prerecorded facts presented by actors, a clever mixture . Excellent value and a really effective way to find out about Austin.

Rainy Day Activity

Our first morning in Austin was cold and rainy so we decided to take a tour of the city so we could see where we wanted to come back to. Austin tour was among the best

Great tour of the Capital and surrounding areas of interest in the Austin area. Driver was knowledgeable and friendly. It's a bargain to get to know Austin in about 90 min., and it gets you out of the heat on a hot humid Summer day. Busses are first class and very comfortable. Having done bus tours in many cities around the U.S. and Europe, I can say that this tour was among the best I have been on.

Visit to Austin

As this was our first time to Austin, my wife and I wanted an overview of what Austin was like. Our guide Ari, was terrific in showing us the geography of the Hill Country, the various cultural, artistic and dinning areas of the city and surrounding area. 90 min to an hour and we then knew what we wanted to see and do for the rest of our stay. Highly recommend this tour for a quick and informative way to plan your visit.

Cotton Bowl w/Texas vacation trip

AO Tours was a nice SAFE tour company recommended to us by the local Marriott hotel. We toured in a luxurious go anywhere 4 wheel drive Land Rover. The tour guide was very nice and professional and showed us a good time. We bought her lunch at great little dive on the strip. It beats being on a big bus with a bunch of loud talkin know-it-alls that can ruin a tour. Also, you get to work with the tour guide in selecting what is of your interest in visiting. In my opinion, it's certainly worth paying extra and always going the private custom tour route when traveling.

Austin + Hill Country Sightseeing Tour

We did not rent a car while In Austin so took this tour to see more of the city than we could see on foot and also to see some of the hill country. The van was comfortable and we were fortunate that not all seats were filled so we were able to sit in the most forward seat with plenty of room and where we could see out the front windshield as well as the side windows. Not all passengers enjoyed the same broad view. It was a great way to see the city and hill country with a guide to highlight the key sights!

This is a great service!

This is a great service! Had some family in town that wanted to see more than we really had time to see - we set them up on an AO Tour and they LOVED it! It was perfect. And left plenty of time for al of us to do our family event together as well. GREAT for visiting family or probably business travelers who dont have tons of time but want to see more of Austin than just the few blocks around their hotel. Air conditioning too! Not all of the tour companies have it, surprisingly.

INCREDIBLE TOUR OPERATOR FOR A BACHELOR PARTY!!!

The best decision I made for this trip was to use AO Tours. I was planning a Bachelor Party and I realized that Austin has so much to offer. I reached out to a few tour operators but Mary was by far the most flexible and professional. She planned out a custom tour through Breweries and distilleries, we had reservations everywhere we went and an amazing tour guide. Bri was our tour guide and she made the tour stress free and fun. A million times I've seen these buildings

A million times I've seen these buildings, those houses, these streets... I thought I knew everything about. Too many times I took the history of these places for granted.🤷🏽‍♂️A lot of the history shared on the tour, paired with the familiar sights was refreshing, if not a little eye-opening as well. 👀 You might be thinking, "It's just a tour, not that biggo deal lol" but for a person who grew up in these areas, went to grade school in these areas, had weird first dates + pep rallies in these areas, had fist fights + field trips in these areas - it's absolutely bittersweet to be reminded of just how every building + every tree comes into play for the bigger picture. 👉🏼🖼 So much has changed + is still changing, growing. 🌱It's weird to pass by a place you used to have to sneak into lol 🤫+ see that now it's become a condo with food joints on the first level + corporate across the street. Change is the only constant, that's for sure. Even though Austin's scenery is (always) in flux, it's just as beautiful if not moreso. This tour reminded me of that fact + for that, I'm thankful. 🙏🏽✨

Would definitely recommend this to friends or people visiting town!

As a local Austinite, I wasn't sure what to expect from an Austin city tour. I was pleasantly surprised and I learned SO much. It was a rainy day, but our tour guide was positive, happy, and very professional. We rode their pano van (which typically opens all the way up, but didn't due to weather), which is awesome. The whole roof is windows, along with huge passenger windows so you have a gorgeous view. The tour starts downtown, takes you into Westlake/The Hill Country, passes by UT campus, and wraps up with the East side. They cover some basics that tourists want to know, like Sandra Bullock living here, but also some really great nuggets, i.e. the history of Clarksville.

Given the reasonable cost and ability to fit into our schedule this was a good choice.

We were looking for a bus tour of Austin at the last minute. We found AO tours not far from downtown. The tour covered sites both downtown and outside of town. It felt on par with most surface-level tours that you can find in most American cities. You probably aren't going to get any deeper understanding but you get a nice overview of the City and surrounding area. Given the reasonable cost and ability to fit into our schedule this was a good choice.

Private 3 hour tour - Just the BEST!!!

We booked two morning private 3-hour tours for our group of 12. Actually each ended up as 4 hours as there was so much to see and do. Each tour was unique in that we selected where we wanted to go, what we wanted to see, and when we wanted to stop. Mary Davidson could not have been more helpful in designing the tours to meet our special interests. We went to places, not on the usual tour route, including Casa Neverlandia, Laguna Gloria Sculpture Gardens, Rick Van Dyke Studio, outdoor sculptures, etc. Our bus driver/tour director was Bri Tomlin, an incredibly knowledgeable individual and willing to make changes and stops as we went along. An added advantage was the comfortable Mercedes van that picked us up at our hotel and dropped us off where we asked.

We chose this tour because it was the only tour company that offered an outing that worked with our schedule. The commentary is recorded with the driver/guide adding information. On time, everything was explained beforehand, nice a/c'd vehicle, lovely tour guide who was knowledgeable and funny. only thing I can fault, is that no stop-offs to take in the main sights, thus taking pics from the bus as were moving but overall very pleased for a whistle stop informative tour.

Would highly recommend it to anyone that’s not afraid to be a local tourist for a day.

I’m a Texan, but haven’t had much of a chance to see Austin outside of the government building tours you do as an elementary school student. I had a lot of friends who’ve spent time in Austin poke fun because we were going on a tour. After hearing some of the tidbits that you pick up on the tour, they were more open to the idea and talked of considering a tour also. Our experience was great. 25.00 a piece on myself and two others was a great deal for a 90 Minute tour that had to have covered a solid 60 miles around the Austin area. We’d have spent that much sitting at a bar for that long and we wouldn’t have learned anything past our tolerance levels for the Day. Alexandra was great. We got on at the first loading point and had a great conversation about some off tour topics of where to go, what to do, that sort of thing and once on the tour she carried that friendly and personal demenour the whole way. All in all, Loved the experience.

Austin Visit-Tour

The tour was exceptional with a very knowledgeable driver, Joel, who was polite, kind and funny. The vehicle was clean, comfortable and nicely cooled! Only one thing to change and that is better directions on where to meet at start of trip as it was very confusing due to the construction work going on around the building. We had to walk through the parking garage to outside of the building on the other side of the garage, then turn left, go back into building and check in with the tour cashiers who give you large tour passes after you show them the electronic ticket.

Best of all the guide pays special attention when they are in difficulty of understanding

After having experienced many of those touristic buses in USA Austin AO ends up being my favorite. Both the tour and the comments are interesting, and punctual. The atmosphere is young and friendly but yet, professional. Best of all the guide articulates and pays a special attention to the foreigner tourists, especially when they have a hard time to understand, which is definitely a plus.

My husband and i booked this tour at the last minute and was grateful for the availability. We were looking for something that was small and leisurely, plus the fact the it wasn’t a walking tour, as my husband had recently undergone knee surgery. The driver was courteous and the timing was good. The only thing that I would recommend is when stopping at the scenic overlook location, allow guests a 5-10 timeframe to exit van and take a quick photo.

Want a quick overview of Austin? Than this is your tour. Our guide, Chloe was delightful as she capably navigated a large van through the city and outlying areas of Austin. A pre-recorded tape discusses the history and highlights of the tour as you pass points of interest. Chloe was great at supplementing the information. Be prepared as the tour never stops - no getting out of the van to see the sights. It's a great way to determine which attractions to go to when the tour is over. It's an easy, comprehensive way to see this fascinating city.

Super overview of Austin in 90 minutes

While on our first trip to Austin, we decided on the 90 minutes AO Tour of Austin. Our guide Dow, gave us a pretty thorough overview of Austin and its many eclectic areas. The tour has a tape of two local celebrities sharing information as well as the driver. Over 50 local sites were pointed out. After the tour, we decided what locations we wanted to visit and explore in-depth. The price is certainly inexpensive and it was a comfortable ride in the Mercedes van. Discounts were given at the music store where the tour starts. Pretty cool.

We like to take tours of places that we visit to get an overview of the area. Then we go to specific places that interest us for a longer time. We used AO Tours for our Austin tour. My wife recently had back surgery and cannot climb steps. Some of the large bus tours have lifts but I noticed that AO had a passenger vehicle for private tours. When I told Mary about my wife's condition, she said that they would arrange for us to take the tour in the smaller vehicle, I believe this was a Jeep. Our guide was Tyler. Tyler did an excellent job of describing all the areas of interest. The tour goes all over the city and you get beautiful views from many locations. It was amazing how much of the city we were able to see in 90 minutes. Our tour went over the 90 minute time-frame but Tyler hit every site. We would use AO again. The tour was great and Mary was very, very helpful in making this tour possible for my wife and me. Thank you AO tours Austin!

A nice Austin Tour

The tour Guide and the bus was nice, but with so much to see, we were usually by a site before we could actually see anything. There were a few stops along the way to take pictures, but it was a bit of a whirlwind ride.

Great Austin tour!

Hop-on hop-off bus was out of commission when we were in Austin so we opted for this tour. It was very well done, lots of good info, took us to see many spots. We couldn't get off and on but I think it was a much better tour than the Hop-on Hop-off tour would have been. Tyler was our driver and he did a great job! Great overview of Austin. Liked the interspersed narration, also.

This tour was a great way to get a feel for Austin. It was our first time there and the 90 minute tour was perfect. The tour group was small and that was a plus as it was comfortable. Staff were very hospitable from the ticket counter to the tour guide. Very enjoyable. Would definitely recommend it to others.

Great Austin tour! Loved it!

We had never been to Austin before and thought that a city tour would be a good introduction. AO Tours is just terrific -- super service from the initial booking (they even called us back when they missed our call!) to the guide on our bus. We covered a lot of area and were provided with lots of great information. We travel a lot, and this was one of the best tours that we have taken. Employees are all great -- friendly, personable and professional. It's a great company! High recommend them!!!

Good affordable quick tour of Austin

My wife and I enjoyed this tour. I would recommend doing it early in your trip so you can decide based on what you see to visit places on your own. You do not leave the car to get a closer look or anything, it’s more of a birds eye Overview of the city. However, somebody else is doing the driving, and you can ask the friendly tour guide any questions you want. As long as you know what you’re getting into you should have a good experience.

Great way to get a quick overview of Austin

We were in Austin for a short period of time. This tour was a great way to get a quick overview of the area. Our guide was knowledgeable and pleasant. The tour was punctual. The van was clean and comfortable. We got some ideas on places to visit on this trip and future trips to Austin. We would recommend this tour to our friends and family to get a quick view of Austin for further exploration.

Great value; wonderful tour guide!

We loved this tour. We felt like there was something for everyone...the history buff, the arts or sports enthusiast, and those who love the great outdoors. I was the wide eyed tourist who wanted to see everything Austin has to offer, and this tour delivered. The tour guide (Nathan) was friendly, knowledgeable, and approachable if you had questions. The tour bus itself seemed well kept, and we enjoyed that the tour was smaller in terms of the group size. In sum, we loved it!

AO Austin & Hill Country Tour

Excellent tour for an overview of the city and surrounding neighborhoods! We knew this was not a stop and hop tour so picture opportunities were through the van windows. For the cost and time commitment, it was a good bargain. Tour guide was great at answering questions. And adding insights to the scripted recorded tour! The tour of the hill country was certainly something you probably wouldn’t see on our own!

90 minute bus tour of Austin's various districts and part of the Texas Hill country. Tour is a mix of recorded commentary and additional information from the driver. Custom Private Winery Tour

I used AO Tours to coordinate a private tour to three Hill Country wineries as part of my bachlorette party. The planning process was a breeze and they worked with me to coordinate the best experience for me and my girls. We were able to specify where to be picked-up and dropped-off and it was clear that the relationship they had with the wineries really helped as we were taken care of pretty quickly upon arrival. Our tour guide, Aden was a GREAT addition to the party too and fit right in with all of us. He was fun and charming! His knowledge of Austin was pretty on point as well! Thank you for making my bachelorette one of the best days I have ever had with my favorite people.

Getting to know the area!

My daughter is going to UT and wanted her to become familiar with the area. This tour did the trick very inexpensively. Tyler, our guide, gave us a wonderful tour with interesting facts about UT, Austin proper and the surrounding hill country. A 1 1/2 tour in a very comfortable Mercedes van. (small group, only 7 of us). I would highly recommend this tour. The people at the visitor's center were outstanding and went above and beyond my expectations in helping me clear up a double booking and securing a refund with the 3rd party booking company.

We had limited time in Austin so we booked this tour to get the feel and layout of the city. Tyler was our guide. The tour started on time, and despite triple digit heat outside, the van was cool and comfortable. We feel we got a great overview of the city for the money we paid for the tour.

Private Tour was Excellent

We took the 90 Minute Tour of Austin and Hill Country and loved it so much we decided to book a Private Tour to see the LBJ Ranch. Lucky us, AO had a tour guide available on our last day of vacation. Our guide Aden was excellent. He gave us so much information and history about the area and Texas. For lunch, we stopped in Luckenbach, TX, and were treated to live music along with good food. We thoroughly enjoyed our day with him. It was the high point of our stay in Austin. Visitors from WI.

Everything from buying the tour ticket to the end of the journey was pleasant. All 4 of us (me, my spouse, 2 kids) really enjoyed the trip. Overall very good experience and definitely would recommend everyone.

Quick but thorough view of Austin

This bus tour gives you a quick view of the sites in Austin and the outlying areas. It is a good way to get an overall picture of Austin. Great City Tour

My husband and our two teen sons wanted a quick tour of Austin during our weekend college tour of Univ of Texas. The tour was perfect. A 90 min tour on an air conditioned bus (that seats 14). This was perfect and so comfortable. My youngest son (13 yrs old) actually told us that this tour was the best part of our 5day Texas Universities excursion (Dallas, Houston, Waco & Austin). Our tour guide was a kind, energetic young woman- full of info and able to answer every single question that her guests asked. During the tour we learned which sites we would like to revisit (cause this tour is a drive-by tour. No stopping for pics). But, a great introduction to Austin. Would wholeheartedly recommend it!!

Best Austin City Overview

My husband and I were in Austin for a very limited amount of time on business and wanted to leave with some idea of where we had been. We had the good fortune of staying at the Driskill, but beyond that, saw little of Austin. This 90 minute tour was perfect. The guide was very knowledgeable, and augmented the prerecorded segments with interesting comments. Mercedes bus was comfortable and easy to view the scenery from both sides, and because there was no getting on and off the bus (in 99 degree weather) the tour could cover a lot of ground. Perfect tour for us!

Lotta good info in 90 minutes

Nathan our guide delivers a bus load of interesting information in rapid fire fashion as he nimbly navigates the crowded Austin downtown streets; yes he is also an excellent driver. The tour covers the music club area, university, museums, parks, historic buildings and monuments. After the urban scene we headed west to the toney, wealthy neighborhoods in the western hills. You can only see the homes from great distance so it is a bit of a disappointment and consumes a bit too much time traveling out to the hills for minor attractions. Some good views from the hills, nothing spectacular. The other item to take into consideration is there are so many sites in the downtown your head may spin as you pivot to see the sites and keep pace with the unfolding narration. We enjoyed our tour, it could have been better perhaps without a trip into the hills. Regardless, Nathan was superb in his all encompassing role and he provided a wealth of information in very entertaining narration.

We cannot say enough good things about Nathan and the tour he took us on. The Mercedes vans were beautiful and comfortable. We saw things that we would never have seen on our own and learned so much. Good small bus tour of Austin and the surrounding areas

We took the tour as our first activity in Austin, and this was a great starting point. The tour was very nice in that it was much more than downtown Austin, but also included much of the surrounding area and hills around the town. The tour guide was informative and we learned a lot about Austin and the surrounding area. I also kept my GPS on during the tour, and dropped "pins" at the places we wanted to come back and see on our own, like one of the food truck areas and one of the scenic overlooks. Overall, a very good tour and definitely recommended.

Nathan was our tour guide. He shared lots of information clearly and interestingly. The tour was a ride only. No stopping at all, which was fine by me because I'd been hopping on and off other tours and was flat out tired. Also, it's an hour and a half, so I didn't get stir crazy. Great way to see Austin

We are first time visitors and this tour is the first thing we did to orient ourselves. We travel a lot and this is something we think is useful. Our driver was Karina and she was fantastic giving us lots of history as she drove. It was a quick 90 minutes and seemed like a lot of information to process but as we started to walk around and do other tours I realized the city wasn’t quite as spread out as I had thought. Of course the first time you go anywhere you find it hard to get too or far for example but in reality the more you go you realize it’s not that far. I especially enjoyed the Hill Country part as we did not rent a car and there was no way I would have otherwise been exposed to that part of Texas. A very enjoyable tour. I highly recommend it even though you do not get out of the van.

A GREAT VALUE and excellent GUIDE

I live in Bandera, 83 miles away. My son visited me during Christmas. He has never been to Austin, and I have had limited drive thru experience. So we drove over on Wednesday Dec. 27, 2017 the coldest day of the year. I booked the 12:30 tour by phone on Tuesday with Mary after finding it on line, Very polite and efficient. Sent me confirmation to my phone and eMail. We arrived at the Visitor Center at 601 E.5th street parking garage at 11:45 AM. After check in, Alexandria greeted our tour group of 10 and we all proced to a beautiful new Mercedes large van. I am handicapped , but got assistance from my son and a tour employee. Very comfortable, clean and........WARM. [High temp was 37 degrees]. Alex took us to many locations in the downtown area of bars and restaurants , then we drove into the hills of residential East and West Austin, and saw the parks and monuments. TEXAS LONGHORN Stadium, and the Tower were featured and the graveyard when Kyle Seeley, The American Sniper was buried were features I did not expect. Many High Tech industries were highlighted by Michael Dell's home in the beautiful upper hill home area.

Overall great tour of Austin and surrounding hill area around Austin

Our tour guide/van driver Mike was very knowledgeable about Austin and the surrounding area. The only thing that was a downside on this tour,as far as I was concerned was, if you are seated on the left side of the small bus/van ( like I was) you cannot see the sites being pointed out on the right side of the vehicle, as we passed by them. Furthermore, the majority of the sites that are being discussed and pointed out to us on our trip were, you guessed it, on the right side of the small bus. So if you want to see the sights, ride on the right side of this tour or you’ll be like me...just hearing about what I couldn’t see with all the people in the bus blocking the view on right side.

Intro to city

This is a great tour, very comfortable, in an air-cpnditioned Mercedes-Benz bus with a knowledgeable guide. Our tour guide, Michael, is a native Austinite, who showed us everything from historical sights to current places of interest and shared many local stories. His stories ranged from the founding of Austin and Texas to the music festivals and where they are held, to things that Keep Austin Weird like the RV park that has a waiting list. He took us down through the entertainment district and knew the places and the specific music they played as well as the best times to go. Throughout the hour and a half tour, he pointed out restaurants in different areas of town which helped us plan the rest of our visit. He was so thorough that we relied more on what he showed us on the tour and less on the GPS for the rest of our visit. Thank you, Michael.

John the driver/guide did a super job of working around the chaos that is SXSW festival and the havoc it creates for driving downtown. Little kids wouldn't enjoy it but anyone from around 10 and up would like it. The tour focuses on famous locations, neighborhoods, areas, and all the great things that Austin has to offer. I learned so much that I would have never known without having an amazing tour guide! You won't regret taking this trip!

Perfect overview of Austin and Hill Country

We had just a few hours after a convention before our flight left and wanted a quick tour. It was just what we were looking for. In 1-1/2 hours we saw the city sites along with the west side and even out into hill country a bit. Our driver/tour guide was informative and fun! There were only 5 of us in a very comfortable, luxury van. We felt the $25 each was a great value!

"Cool" tour of Austin and beyond

A professionally guided tour of Austin and outlying areas in an air-conditioned Mercedes bus? Not only fun and entertaining, but the best idea on a 100-degree July day! We weren't able to get out of the bus to take photos, but the large windows enable you to see everything. I'd been to Austin three other times but still hadn't seen many of the places we passed. This tour will give you some idea of where the many different areas of downtown are and what to look for when you get there. We drove through the UT campus where the driver told us the history of the clock tower and the sniper from years ago. Interesting to "see" history. We were driven several miles out of town to the hill territory (shows you how huge Austin is!) where we were able to appreciate the full beauty of the city and how green and vibrant it is. We saw lakes, rivers, dams, museums, flamingos (no lie) and beautiful vistas from Mt. Bonnell. This 90-minute tour has a little recorded information, but was otherwise interpreted for us by a knowledgable, friendly driver (2:30 tour on July 5, Dan?) I had a lot of fun. My son lives in Austin and didn't care to go with me, but I recommended that he and his girlfriend take the tour some hot summer day to learn more about the city. Make reservations online if you can, the busses don't hold a lot of passengers. You can get a senior or military discount. Loading was done right outside the Austin Visitor Center which is across the street from the Convention Center and the Hyatt, and next to a parking garage. Easy peasy.

Excellent Austin Guided Tour!

Tour was recommended by the concierge at the Marriot and I had a great time. The guide was very knowledgeable of the area(long-time resident), and gave great detail to the whole area as we traveled. He was able to offer historical, cultural and popular info on the area and the people. I would recommend it highly. Very comfortable and entertaining!

Great tour company

Al was a great tour guide in explaining the sites and history behind them. He gave me extra info afterward for places I was interested in finding on my own. The Mercedes vans they have are very comfortable and air conditioned for those 100 degree Austin days! Their location is easy to find and have s parking garage right next to them. Would highly recommend this company and would definitely use them again.

90 Minutes Well Spent

My friend and I visiting from the UK took this tour on the 6th July this year. The tour is taken in a comfortable air conditioned van as shown in the photos. Areas covered included downtown Austin, the area south of the city, the hill country (the main event where the bulk of the tour takes place), and the north of the city. Our tour guide and driver, whos name I regrettably forget, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly took a lot of pride in his city and his job (he's native to Austin). There was a wealth of information on the various landmarks around the area, complimented with some pre-recorded talks on the more prominent points of the tour. The atmosphere was both informative and light hearted, with interesting tidbits and humour thrown in. The area covered was broad and provided some great views of the hill country and the city itself, as well as a trip through some historic outskirts. A range of interests were also catered for, from the music scene, food, history, politics, arts, all the way to notable local residents past and present. Overall, you will be treated to some unforgettable views and local flavor that are well worth the price of admission. Absolutely recommended for first-timers in the city as well as people who have been there before, like my friend and I. Overall a fantastic 90 minutes that was a great addition to our trip.

Great for planning your visit!

The tour was fantastic! Our driver was knowledgeable, funny, and interesting and got everyone involved who was in the van! We did the tour on our first day of visiting Austin, and made our plans for the rest of our trip based on recommendations and items learned from the tour! Also we have 2 kids with us, ages 5 and 6, who enjoyed the scenery and they even learned a few things. Our host included them as well! Highly recommend!

Great information about Austin Texas , experience was great . Air conditioning!!!

I thought the tour was very good and everything was well explained. Me and my whole family learned a whole lot on this adventure throughout the beautiful city of Austin. Michael Taylor was very detailed and thorough throughout the entire tour. Everything he has taught us through the tour was all relevant and no irrelevant information. I thought the tour was very very educational and we learned a ton of things we would never learned. We also beat the heat while enjoying the air conditioning inside the nice clean pink bus. The tour was in fact very long but we enjoyed every second and minute of it. The drive through the mountain sides and through all the hills was very beautiful we saw every nice view possible. We took lots of pictures and got an experience of a lifetime that we will never forget. Finally when we arrived back at the shop we did not want to get off the bus for two reasons the amazing information and the great Air Conditioning. Michael Taylor was an amazing tour guide I highly recommend him. I also recommend the right hand side of the bus because the photo opportunities.

Amazing!!

It really is the tour for people who don't like tours!! In a van with about 10-14 other people and have your own personal driver. We had Mike and he was awesome! Just the right amount of funny and history tied in! Very comfortable, enjoyable, and would recommend it to everyone!!

Outstanding 90 minutes tour!!

This was a great choice- a 90 minute tour of the highlights of the city and environs that included a trip out to the 'hill-country." The guides were extremely knowledgeable and helped us understand the City much better than if we merely were on a hop-on-hop off bus (which is good if you have the time to do the hopping. By taking this tour we felt that we had actually explored Austin, albeit superficially.

A Wonderful Tour!

Ninety of the best minutes you'll ever spend. The tour was of downtown, suburbs & the Hill Country. I certainly learned a lot. Our tour guide was very personable & knowledgeable. The Van is air-conditioned & comfortable. We received a Senior discount & they do offer Military discounts too.

Great City tour!

My hotel recommended this city tour and it was worth it! Having never been to Austin before, the tour took us to various areas around Austin, that I never would have known about on my own. In addition to seeing the usual city spots, they took us through the Hill Country and recommended many eateries and other locations to go back to. It seems that all of the drivers are very knowledgeable and will answer any, and all, questions. It's a very small, intimate group tour on an air conditioned, comfortable van.

Pink Tags

This was one of the first stops my friend and I hit while in Austin. The driver was up to date on all his information and helped us understand current things happening is Austin. He was able to tell us why Uber was no longer allowed in Austin (much to my regret) which had only happened a week before. We was a lot of interesting sights on the tour and learned not to trust loops in Austin. We got handed little pink tags at the end of the tour which actually are viable for discounts at a few stores and shops around town.

Great 90 minute tour!!!

Our very informative and knowledgeable guide Mike gave us interesting details of the beautiful city of Austin. This tour provided us with tips on what to and where to go in Austin. If your time is limited, we highly recommend you take this tour. Great overview.

A great overview of Austin

This 90 minute van trip provided us all we needed to know about how to best spend the rest of the day. It started at 10:00 and took us to all the interesting sites plus a foray into hill country. It was raining so we couldn't see all the sites from a distance. As a result we went to the Bullock Museum, which we would have missed and BD Riley's Irish Pub for lunch. We are glad we had this introduction to Austin.

Great overview tour

If you never been to Austin, this would be a great way to get a feel for the city and learn some of its fascinating history. The tour bus is a passenger van, so the groups are small. This makes it easy to actually hear what the guide is telling you and ask questions. Our guide was very knowledgeable and had several funny stories to share about Austinites. This tour is well worth the 90 minutes you'll spend.

Private tour

We did the private tour to get to know the Austin area in the three hours prior to the start of SXSW. It was great to be able to take a general look at the city to learn a little about its history, its spirit, its nature and the reality of the people who live there. The tour not only includes the downtown area, but also shows the outskirts of the city, including parks, lakes and the areas with the most beautiful views of the city. Super recommendable. Super recomendable

Great tour even if you've already visited Austin

The guide gave great information - bring a pad of paper and pencil to record his recommendations. It didn't matter that the tour went to areas that we had already stopped at or been through. The additional information, color, and perspective were useful. The tour provides just a super overview of the places you will want to spend time in.

Loved it!

Hadnt expected anything of this, but in a luxurious minibus, and a history major as a guide, it was magic. The hill country with its castle in the distance, the Pennybacker Bridge, the mansions thatt just go on and on with their waterfront frontages, the geology, flora and fauna and commentary by our local guide, then into the sculpture garden, Zilker Park & prehistoric Garden, fantastic distant view of the state capitol. Lakes and gardens, the uni campus, state capitol again, Texas State cemetery where they are to have a monument to American Sniper Chris Kyle. Downtown: Willy Nelson statue, Congress bridge where the bats hang out, on to sixth street and the music venues, past the O'Henry, & Mrs Dickinson (the woman who Santa Anna reprieved at the Alamo so that she could carry the news to Gen Houston) museum, just so much and such a knowledgeable guide. Brilliant, Brilliant Brilliant

90 Minute City Tour

I had my elderly parents and was looking for something that didn't require a lot of walking. This tour is perfect! It takes you all around the city and gives you the highlights. I can't remember our guide's name, but she was great! She filled us in with lots of interesting details, had good restaurant advice, and was a great driver. We stopped at a few of the places she pointed out when we headed out on our own later. This tour is only 90 minutes---gives a great overview in just the right amount of time. Also, liked the size of the van. Only about 12-15 people. Definitely would recommend.

Wonderful Austin tour

We booked the Texas Hill County tour while in Austin and greatly enjoyed the tour! Our guide was Megan and she was friendly, fun, and really knew the area. This is especially easy for seniors or small children, because it is a riding tour with no walking required.

Nice overview of the city and surrounding area

I like the fact they use small buses and there are a limited number of people on each tour. This improves the experience. The tour guide was quite entertaining and you learn lots of the history and the setup of the city. The tour covers both the city and the surrounding area. A very enjoyable and entertaining 1.5 hours. Definitely worth it.

Brilliant tour, brilliant team

Mary set up a custom tour to orient a group of international interns for our Hotel. Our guide Keith was exceptional! He took the group on a West Austin hour-long tour that was amazingly informative, funny, and perfectly paced. Even as a long-time Austin resident I learned a ton and visited a few spectacular locations that I have never visited. Whether you are just visiting the city or have been here for decades - you will learn more about our wonderful city than you ever thought possible.

Best tour in town

I moved to Austin in 2007 and one of the first things I did was take the Austin Overtures tour. It was fabulous. It was informative, entertaining and comfortable in the extreme heat. To date I have been on the tour more than half a dozen times. I work it into the schedule every time I have friends/family in town. I have taken people ranging in age from 30 to 65 and the response is consistent across the board...."what a fantastic tour." It never gets old - I feel as Austin is evolving and accepting our rapid growth as best we can I see/hear something new every trip. My sister came to town with 20+ co-workers for a weekend trip to Austin and they (Austin Overtures) scheduled a larger bus to accommodate the group and I worked with them to design our own 4+ hour tour throughout Austin. We stopped for lunch which they organized as well at County Line and we even stopped off at Mt. Bonnell and the Bob Bullock museum. They helped organize a trip that everyone raved about all weekend. If you are visiting Austin I highly suggest working the Austin Overtures tour into you schedule and if you recently moved to Austin take the trip. I will go out on a limb and guarantee a memorable and educational experience.

Couldn't ask for more

Did two tours with the company. The first was the Austin & Hill Country tour. It took around 90 minutes and took you out through various areas of the city, including the beautiful Hill Country. It tells you everything you need to know about the city for a very good price. The tour guide we had was very informative, and mixed his own local knowledge with historical facts. The second was a private Friday Night Lights tour. I'd wanted to do this for a long time and it definitely lived up to my expectations. We must have seen over 15-20 locations including all the ones I had wanted to, and I will most likely return to do the same tour at some point. Again, our tour guide was fantastic with any questions and was extremely accommodating to any requests. The company were very accommodating and helpful throughout, and both tour guides were fantastic. Will most likely use when I return next year!

The "Real" Austin!

My friend and I took this tour on Sunday, May 24th with Al as our tour guide. Our tour was more than either of us expected. We saw a nice variety of places and learned much about the history and "local flavor" that make Austin so unique and interesting. Our guide was friendly and engaging in addition to being knowledgeable about the area. I highly recommend this tour!

A+ Excellent Service/Sight Seeing. Worth every penny!

Very knowledgeable tour guide, very clean and comfortable Mercedes Benz van. Highly recommend for any group, single, family , couples. I wish it was 3 hrs trip and not just 1.5. Could have been much more fun. Stop at mount bonnel could have been fun.

Austin close up and personal

We thoroughly enjoyed our day spent on the Mercedes Van with "Al". There was an event which resulted in street closures downtown which in turn created a traffic nightmare. Al rolled with the punches and didn't appear stressed by this huge inconvenience, Instead, he modified his route to lessen the burden so essentially we worked backwards. He smartly adjusted his narrative so that we did not feel out of sync. This allowed us to see all the sights mentioned in the brochure plus more. We ate at the Green Mesquite which he mentioned in his tour and it was fabulous. We also went to the Congress bridge to see the bats (also mentioned in his tour) but unfortunately it was too dark when the bats emerged to see anything (not Al's fault). Overall, it was a great day. Highly recommend.

The Greatest Sightseeing Tour

This is a true find for the first time visitor in Austin. The driver/ guide was an aspiring actress so her narration was lively, entertaining and informative. The live talk is interspersed with recorded highlights and history by two narrators. Far above any sightseeing tour that we have experienced anywhere! It shows not only the city but also surrounding points of interests, parks, gardens and lakes.

Great tour, fun facts, good host, well worth it.

We really enjoyed our tour around Austin. Maggie (we think, may have been Mary) was a great host who was really down to earth and had lots of fun stories to tell about Austin. What we liked about her was that she shared a lot of her own experiences and her feelings about areas and restaurants and that seemed more genuine and insightful. The tour takes you out into the hills which was beautiful and shows you all the important parts of Austin in just 90 minutes. Really enjoyed our time on the air conditioned bus and would definitely recommend it to others.

The way to really see Austin

Our tour guide was Maggie, A truly lovely lady!! Very Knowledgeable on the city and the tour itself! It was a 90 min ride in a Cool luxurious van. With it being so hot and humid out this was just the thing we needed. We left from downtown Austin and drove all the way to the Hill Country, I currently live in the city and RARELY get to see the sights we were shown on this tour, I EVEN learned about about the city I call home. This tour is a MUST for visitors and locals alike.
