The Austin, I never knew.

Austin cemetery, it was very enlightening to know all of the famous people who are buried there. Overall the history of Austin. also, our tour guide Doug was very charismatic and very knowledgeable and I was happy that he was able to share these things with us. Thank you so much Doug.

– Charlene_B via Viator
Great views and insight into Austin history.

Great outing for my parents they didn't require walking. Scheduling was easy and we even received a reminder text in the morning with parking suggestions. The Van was very nice and our tour guide, Doug was very nice and informative. Great views and insight into Austin history.

– Aisha C. via Yelp
A brilliant whistle-stop introduction to Austin and Hill Country with great views.

Can I give this tour six out of 5? A true whistle-stop tour of Austin and Hill Country, with an excellent introduction to this beautiful city, its history & future, and stunning views from Hill Country. Our tour guide was Doug, knowledgeable, funny and a safe driver. His commentary, anecdotes and tips of where to go for food, nightlife and more were spot on. I had originally planned to do a more localized walking tour (but didn't due to timing issues) and I'm glad I did the AO Austin and Hill Country tour instead as it gave me a better introduction and understanding of the city and what it has to offer - and has added lots to my "must see & do" list, much of which I may have remained unaware of without the tour. Thank you Doug for a brilliant 90 min introduction to this amazing city. Please note: this tour (Austin + Hill Country non-stop 90 minute) does not have any photo (or other) stops but you will have great views from the minibus.

Austin overview in detail

What a great way to experience Austin. Tour covers a lot of ground with a mix of prerecorded information about the parts of Austin we’re traveling through, alongside the commentary from our tour guide (Doug - who was superb). Highlights for me were Mount Bonnell & Texas State Cemetery (Gene Cernan - what a hero) The tour provides great information, and I’d suggest you do it early in a visit to Austin, it’ll give great guidance on where to spend the rest of your visit.

– WanderingScott via TripAdvisor
A great way to get a sense of what you want to explore while in Austin

The Library, it is amazing! With beautiful walking space right across the street. Also Doug the driver was a great host, a little bit of historical data with current history of each section of town and interlaced with some funny personal stories. Glad I went!

– Marilyn_S via Viator
It was a really good value.

I did the "Austin + Hill Country Panoramic Tour with Stops" tour, and really enjoyed it. Since I flew in and did not rent a car, this was the best way I found to see the areas outside of downtown that I could not get to on foot. Ari was an excellent guide, and it was a beautiful day for an open-air tour. It was perhaps a little on the pricier side, but when you consider it's a very small-group tour (I think the van only seated maybe 12 and there were only 4 of us on board) and the tour lasted 2.5 hours, it was a really good value.

– Amy J via Google Reviews
We enjoyed the tour and hope you give them a try!

This is a great company with fun people to show you around the Austin area. They have a nice, comfortable Mercedes van that is perfect for sightseeing. We enjoyed the tour and hope you give them a try!

Would do again if we came back

Doug was a great Tour Guide! Funny, fun and informative about everything Austin has to offer. Comfortable seats, great views, a very intimate tour. Would do again if we came back! Favorite part was definitely the Lake Austin views and stop at the Monarch! Very cool.

– Makenzie C via Google Reviews

We were going to do the hop on hop off bus tour but it didn’t run early in the week. The Austin Tourist centre recommended this trip and we are so glad we took it! We enjoyed being able to have an overview of Austin, before deciding what we want to see more of. Our driver/guide Doug was entertaining and shared stories and pointed out good places to visit. It was great get up into the hills and see another perspective of Austin. Thanks to Doug we now plan to see State Congress and the city library.

Austin DT Tour - Short & Informative

Our guide and tour were great. This 90-minute tour provided us with an overview of the entire downtown area - the old, new, and the weird. 😉 Our guide, Doug, was informative and flexible - and for that he deserves our special thanks.

– denniskH8947YZ via TripAdvisor
The tour is a great way...

The tour is a great way to get a feel for all the different neighborhoods and our tour guide gave us a lot of good ideas to follow up on. We swam in Barton Springs later that day after seeing it on the tour. Wonderful time.

Nice way to get the essence of Austin.

Nice way to get the essence of Austin. Our guide Doug was kind and humorous. He really loves this town.

First Day in Town Tour

What a great way to see the best parts of Austin on my first day in the city! I got some great ideas of places to visit over the next few days and when I visit again. Doug was great at pointing out some fun spots, as well as insights about different areas.

– tle371 via TripAdvisor
Highly Recommend!

We were here just for the weekend, and this tour was all-encompassing! Perfect for an overview of the city and hill country. We rode with Doug and really enjoyed the trip.

– Elaine C via TripAdvisor
A super tour

We had a super tour of Downtown Austin and the surrounding neighborhoods. Doug did a great job and pointed out lots of interesting points of interest, along with good restaurants and funky bars/musical joints. Now we're at Casino El Camino on 6th, featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives!!💯🍻🍔😄🥓🎉 Yum!!

Had a lot of fun

My wife and I had a lot of fun. We went on the Austin + Hill Country Panoramic tour with stops. Got to know several interesting spots we wouldn't have known to visit by ourselves, and learn about the local history and recent events. We followed some of the suggestions for activities after the tour and got to enjoy a nice evening out as well :) thank you!!

– Agustina R via Google Reviews
Great tour - especially at beginning of your trip

Tour was great! I think our tour guide was Carson and he was hilarious and so chill. Very knowledgeable and the route taken made a lot of sense for when I wanted to revisit many of the spots we passed. Just the right amount of time for a tour and especially in this hot weather - well air conditioned van was very much appreciated. PS - do this tour at the beginning of your trip if you were being spontaneous like I was! Wasn’t sure what I wanted to do for my trip and this tour gave me some ideas

– terryestheraugustin via TripAdvisor
Great way to see the city on a time crunch.

Great way to get your bearings around the city and to learn a lot in a short period of time. Arianna was a great tour guide. Small group and air conditioning were a plus. She knew her way around the city and we stopped at some beautiful places.

– Tracie S via TripAdvisor
Really Good Tour

Really enjoyed your tour. We learned a lot about Austin. And really liked that we got to see quite a bit of Austin and some of the surrounding area. Would have liked to go down Congress St. and back around by the Austin sign, and seen a little bit of the UT campus but realized timing is everything. Thanks so much for a really good tour!

– Terry_F on Viator
Ari is the best.

Ari was the absolute best tour guide ever! Super knowledgeable not only about the area, but the deep history, and current events. She also shared with us her favorite food trucks, and really helped us get a great feeling of what it is like living in such a fun and interesting city.

– RyanP_O via Viator
A side to Austin we didn’t know existed

The tour was amazing - gave us a great perspective of the many sides of Austin from the stunning hills in the West to the best food trucks in the east. Bus was brand new and very comfortable and the driver made sure we weren’t stuck in traffic wasting the tour. Would highly recommend doing this early in your trip to get your bearings.

Love Austin, can't wait to visit again

Excellent tour, guide made it entertaining and interactive. This was my first visit to Austin and he gave me lots of food ideas and places to visit.

– carolgF1389FF via Viator
Great guide, price, service and staff

The tour guide Ms. Ari was awesome. My family enjoyed the bus trip. Very helpful staff(Mary) when called for the parking information and even during the last minutes arrival call I made she made communication to the guide that we were there and waiting at the bus instead we supposed to be at their visitor center. Great price and bus. It's worth to use their service and strongly recommend it. Thank you AO Tours.

First time to Austin, I’ll be back!

I was in town for a meeting and had time to spare. Not knowing the city of Austin at all I decided the tour would be a great way to get a good overview. It was 90 minutes with both narration by recording and information from the driver/host. I thoroughly enjoyed the time and what I learned about Austin. It made me want to return to actually enjoy what the city has to offer.

– roberttM6542ZT via TripAdvisor
Comfortable way to learn about Austin

We worked our way to the visitors bureau where we met our tour guide Carson. He was very friendly and considerate as he gathered our group together. We were in a comfortable, clean Mercedes air-conditioned van for our tour. It was a great way to see the city as well as the outskirts-Hill Country. Carson was very knowledgeable on his own and, there was a scripted narration as well. He also knew the area very well as he had to navigate traffic and road blocks. There were no opportunities to take photos except through the windows as there are no stops. Thanks Carson for sharing your home town history with us.

– Cherina J via TripAdvisor
A View of the Eclectic City of Music and Food

Dow was our tour guide. He is a native Texan and knew so many unique things besides the highlights of Austin. The vehicle was warm and comfortable with large windows for easy viewing, the audio was clear, Dow was open to questions and interested in where the guests were from. Even though the weather was chilly with a light rain, the tour was great!!

– Jackie B via TripAdvisor
Ranks at the top!

Our tour guide was knowledgeable friendly, humorous and easy to understand. We had head phones with some prerecorded narration plus the driver’s comments. Both were appreciated. Every stop was enjoyable and nicely timed. We were blessed with beautiful weather so the top was open. We have done city tours in many places as we travel and this was one of the best. It was nice to avoid Austin traffic!

Make sure to choose AO you won't regret it

Let me premise this with I am not a fan of tourist city tours and if I ever do go on one it's usually just a map I paid to go on. With that said this tour was extremely entertains and our driver Joel was very easy to listen and very engaging! I thought for sure I had just paid $49 to take a nap but I was severely mistaken!! The tour was very informative and gave some excellent details about the amazing city of Austin!!! If you're choosing to do a tour in Austin make sure to choose AO you won't regret it. Also make sure to ask for Joel you won't be disappointed

– Clint E via Yelp
Great!

The gentleman who led the tour was authentic and delightful and very knowledgeable he knew the city inside and out from a live perspective. I was only in Austin for about four hours and I’m so glad I chose to use the time to take this tour. Thank you!

Thank you AO Tours

Have visited Austin several times but the City & Hills tour showed us lots of new places & included loads of interesting facts. Joel was enthusiastic & knowledgeable. Well worth 90 minutes. Convenient pick up/drop off at tourist office. Great experience.

The tour was perfect

I would definitely recommend it. You are sitting comfortably in a small van and the tour includes parts of Austin outside of the main city as well as downtown Austin. Our guide, Greg, was extremely knowledgeable and he added a lot of humor to his descriptions of various tour points. Thank you, Greg, for a really wonderful tour!

– Karen A Via Google Reviews
We absolutely loved the tour

Wonderful tour guide, Kim. She was knowledgeable and funny. This is the second time we have used Viator and will definitely use this company again.

This is definitely worth while to get a sense of what Austin has to offer

We had a tour that used the open air van which was great. It happened to be a not too hot day so it was nice to ride around and see the sites without looking through a window. Our tour guide was personable and knowledgeable. He was attentive to all questions and making sure that we all got from the trip what was important to us. Overall, this is a great way to see Austin and included a couple of stops along the way to roam around a bit. Being new to the city, you can get a good overview of the neighborhoods, history, and other notable sites. This is definitely worth while to get a sense of what Austin has to offer.

This is a great way to comfortably see and learn about weird Austin!

The trip gave us a wonderful overview of Austin, from the hills outside of town with gorgeous views and homes/mansions, to the unique and lovely streets, restaurants and buildings downtown. The taped audio guides were fun and informative, and our careful, safe driver was knowledgeable about Austin. The van was very comfortable.

– NADINE_W via Viator
Fun and informative tour

Totally enjoyed our tour of Austin and the Hill country. The weather was nice enough we were able to have the top open, morning tour. Joel was very friendly and informative of everything we did. Other passengers were accommodating by not talking so we could hear everything being said. It was a lot of fun. A great way to see Austin and have some idea of places you would want to go back to spend longer a time. I highly recommend this tour.

– Patricia_P via Viator
Highly recommended

We saw so much in 1.5 hours that we otherwise would never have known. Great way to get to know the area. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and driver. Would recommend to anyone wanting to learn the sites on a tight timeline. We went back later to linger in some of the places we were shown.

The Essential general tour of Austin

We were in Austin for just a few days so we needed just one tour that did a general overview of everything there was to see there. This tour did exactly that, we saw pretty much all the top sights in and around Austin in a nice comfy Mercedes Benz Sprinter driven by an excellent tour guide. We chose the extended tour that lasted about 2.5 hours and made about 3 different stops. I highly recommend this one if you are only in Austin for a short time.

– Nolan_P via Viator
Excellent tour, fabulous

Excellent tour with a really good tour guide. We enjoyed the experience in a super clean comfortable vehicle. The tour guide was knowledgeable and fun. Austin truly is a beautiful city. This tour shows us places we would not have got to see. Worth every penny don’t hesitate to take the tour.

Worth it!

Loved our tour guide! Learned so much in an enjoyable and engaging way. A great way to get a thorough overview of Austin.

Lovely way to see Austin

This was a very comfortable and interesting tour. In the past we have always booked on the hop on/ hop off bus, this is so much better! Love the open top of the van. Love that we are able to get out and explore at different stops. Love the commentary provided both by the guide and the pre programmed audio. Loved that it was a small group with extra Covid precautions. Really loved everything about this❤️

– Venusbrandy via TripAdvisor
Excelente y divertida experiencia

– pacolounge via TripAdvisor
A must-do even if you lived here for years!

The experience was awesome! Joel was very informative and personable! I've lived in Austin for 20 years and learned a lot! Will be doing it again with future out-of-town guests!

Great Sightseeing!

We love these tours in every city we visit - this one was particularly fun, van very comfortable as it was hot in Austin even in March! Our guide was great, we all connected and had a lot of good conversation and saw so much of the city sites. Really got a good sense of the area and this helped us plan the rest of our sight seeing for our trip. Recommend it highly!

– pckeithley via TripAdvisor
Great overview of the city

Our driver, Ali, was very knowledgeable about the Austin area and provided an excellent overview of the city. I would highly recommend the 2 1/2 hour tour because you have the opportunity to see some of the sites by getting off of the bus.

BEST Tour Company in Austin, TX!

AO Tours, an iconic company in the City of Austin. Their amazing tours are fit for any size groups. I have been many times with various clients and never disappointed. Recently, we rode in their new lux tour bus, it was so much fun, very comfortable, the glass roof was impressive and when opened you felt the awesome city. The audio explanation of the sights was on spot, including the Spanish version. AND...they are sanitizing their vehicles every day with a hospital grade product via their tech machines. Talk about a Clinically Clean touring service!

– Exploration440169 on TripAdvisor
Fabulous tour for the newcomer

The tour was a great overview of Austin. The tour guide was knowledgeable about the area and although she had been driving all day, still treated my tour with great enthusiasm and was extremely pleasant. It is a difficult time to be in the tour business and I was just so appreciative they are still up and operating whilst taking the necessary precautions to not spread Covid with hand sanitizers, Temp readings and spraying down the buses. Five stars to the management team and thank you for being in the business of making memories. Hang in there!

– denycet366 on TripAdvisor
The best tour in Austin Texas!

I wish I could give this company more than 5 stars. The company owner reached out and helped us come up with a custom tour in the over 100* heat. While other tour companies are closed during Covid, we were able to have fun during our stay in Austin with our 2 tours in their luxurious air conditioned ride. If it were not for this tour company, we would have been sitting in our hotel our entire vacation. Thank you so much for your tour of Austin Texas.

Beautiful Panoramic and/or Open Air Busses!

My convention booked a private tour with this company and it was great! We had a beautiful bus that was all windows so it offered a beautiful panoramic view of the city and hill country. We had a couple stops, one of them at Covert Park for sunset. The driver planned it PERFECTLY so we were able to enjoy the gorgeous view of the lake and hills at sunset. Our guide was named Will and he made sure everyone had a wonderful experience! They also had an audio tour component where they offer disposable earbuds so every guest can hear the tour, loud and clear! Great for city traffic or the hearing impaired. All appropriate precautions were taken including social distancing, temperature checks, and sanitizing.

Highly recommended!!

Having Malina as our guide was my favorite aspect of the tour — she’s PHENOMENAL!!! This was my second tour with Malina; she knows the city so well that she’s able to share insights and “behind the scenes” details and history, which makes things extra interesting!

Custom tour Austin and Hill Country

Our group of 10 loved traveling in the new glass top vehicle for our private tour. Mary and Bree incorporated our interests into a 4 hour tour of city and Hill Country that was a great combination of riding, walking, eating and photos. Bree was so knowledgeable, accommodating, and fun. Loved hearing her stories! Red and White wine tasting was our final stop - perfect ending for our memorable tour!

Short on time- perfect way to get an overview of Austin

I didn't have time for a long tour because I was in town for a wedding. Still, I wanted to see an overview of Austin and know where to visit in my limited time. AO Tours had multiple start times and the online scheduler was easy to use. I was able to decide at 10AM to take the 12:30 tour. This tour was ideal. It was a combination of a recorded narration and live commentary from our driver/guide. Joel was friendly and informative. Van was comfy. I highly recommend it.

Austin Walking Tour - Great way to be introduced to the city

We did a walking tour that included some food sampling’s as well. It was a great way to be introduced to the city. Comprehensive overview of Austin!

"I love the small vehicle aspect of this tour. Bri was a great tour guide, a very competent driver, and very knowledgeable about Austin and the surrounding hill country. It's clear she loves her city. And she is very personable and responsive to questions. The hill country portion of the tour was very informative about the geography of the area and how it influences weather, water geology and even agriculture. The tour helped me to decide what places I want to visit in depth."

Amazing tour

"This tour was better than I expected. Excellent tour guide that gave us the History of the area and showed us some amazing places. I've lived in the Central Texas area and had no idea how beautiful Austin was. This is a MUST SEE tour if you are coming from out of town. The Mercedes bus was very comfortable. A million times I've seen these buildings

A million times I've seen these buildings, those houses, these streets... I thought I knew everything about. Too many times I took the history of these places for granted. A lot of the history shared on the tour, paired with the familiar sights was refreshing, if not a little eye-opening as well. Even though Austin's scenery is (always) in flux, it's just as beautiful if not more so. This tour reminded me of that fact.

– Ezra Garcia via Google
Would definitely recommend this to friends or people visiting town!

As a local Austinite, I wasn't sure what to expect from an Austin city tour. I was pleasantly surprised and I learned SO much. It was a rainy day, but our tour guide was positive, happy, and very professional. We rode their pano van (which typically opens all the way up, but didn't due to weather), which is awesome. The whole roof is windows, along with huge passenger windows so you have a gorgeous view.
